WHERE YOU GREW UP:
I was born in San Pedro, California and lived there up to the age of 5. My family then moved to Mexico where I spent most of my childhood. I moved to El Paso after I finished college at the age of 22. I have lived here ever since!
NUMBER OF YEARS AS AN INSTRUCTOR/TRAINER:
1 year and 1 month
WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN FITNESS?
I retired from my regular job a little over six years ago, and decided it was time to seek a healthier lifestyle. I began walking, then jogging, then joined the Her Gym family in 2011. I fell in love with the classes. Instructors and members push you to go beyond what you could do physically. It is an awesome feeling when you reach and exceed your goals. I want to help others reach and exceed theirs.
PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
Prior to becoming a fitness instructor, I had been a professional in human resources management for over 17 years. I headed the Compliance and Human Resources Department for several organizations in Texas and New Mexico. I am currently a Human Resources Consultant. I also enjoy volunteer work. I am currently the President elect of the Humane Society of El Paso board of directors and a board member of the International Boundary and Water Commission Citizens Forum. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1990.
FAVORITE FITNESS ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF THE GYM:
I decided to try outdoor cycling after falling in love with RPM, and loved it too. I ride my bike two to three times a week.
When I’m not teaching class, you’ll probably find me cycling outdoors, doing crafts at home, or volunteering at a Humane Society event. I love dogs!
I was a Lucha Libre fan when I was a kid. My favorite luchador was Mil Mascaras. I used to write letters to him. I have some of the letters my mother never mailed.
